Durham Yard Bethnal Green
A small coworking space was recently set up at Durham Yard by two freelancers (theatre producer & web developer) who were fed up with working on their kitchen table. Durham Yard is a series of old Victorian shops and workshop units just off Hackney Road where lots of other creatives: photographers, digital media folk, artists etc have also based themselves.
Across the
two small offices there are 11 desks, and although small, there’s a good
community building amongst the freelancers who work in the office. The nice thing about this coworking
space is that it is calm and quiet whilst at the same time being sociable,
friendly and offering useful networking opportunities.
The cost of a desk is £50/week for which you get your own desk, Internet, secure
storage, printer, kitchen facilities, secure bike storage, post box.
Importantly there’s also 24-hour access to the space. There’s no separate
meeting room but there’s a sofa in the office for down time, and there are
great cafes nearby for meeting clients (E Pellici probably winning the crown of
best caff).
