Additional Services: Resident artists will have a designated page on the Brentford Gallery & Studios website. They will also be invited to exhibit in a group show with other artists in the Gallery.
The Brentford Gallery and Studios are located on a small island at the Thames at Brentford. As well as Johnson's Island having a small gallery, it also has small/medium studio workshops available for artists or craftspeople. These studio workshops have to be the finest locations in London, the island is actually alongside a large weir which allows all the excess water from the Grand Union Canal to flow into the Thames, creating one of the best ionisers in the United Kingdom.
Workspace is available, gallery hire is available and for 3 months of the year a permanent exhibition of Local artist Barry Jones will be on public display.
The Island is connected to the mainland by a small footpath, hand trollies are used for transporting goods back and forth. If you decide to take an art studio space on the island, we will include your own 'Artist in Resident' web page(s) on this website, also from November 2008 onwards you will be invited to exhibit with other artists who are resident at Johnson Island in an annual show in the Brentford Gallery at no extra cost.
